Liz Jeneid is currently an Honorary Fellow in the Faculty of Creative Arts, University of Wollongong where she has been teaching for the past 20 years in visual arts. She was the director of the Faculty gallery for six years and also taught in the areas of textiles, artist’s books and visual investigation. She instigated a fund to bring overseas artists to the Faculty and co-ordinated the program for five years. Since retiring from teaching, Jeneid has been artist in residence at the New England Art Museum, Armidale NSW, Australia, at the Skopelos Art Foundation in Greece and on ships going to the Arctic and the Antarctic. Liz Jeneid has been exhibiting work since the late 70’s when she was a production weaver, working from her studio and training apprentices in Sydney, Australia. Her work now reflects her interest in a number of areas both personal and universal. Ideas about what it means to have a sense of place, exploration of the outcomes of travel and responses to the new and unfamiliar. These are reflected in her work and in the use of diverse materials and techniques such as papermaking, printmaking, constructions and artist books.
