Artists Statement

Maiden Voyage

This work deals with a woman's dream of breaking free of boxed-in spaces. The box frame suggests containment within a domestic interior. Patterns, a strong element of the work, organise and help reveal the internal journey of the subject. Humour and surrealism are also important elements of the work, encouraging the viewer to experience the paradox of fantasy and reality.
