Artists Statementin your dreams…….the dress maker will draft a different pattern Uses the dress as a feminine perspective to shape connections. While using the central aim to develop a work practice that employs a participatory role for art this work aims to foster a vital interrelationship between the artist, the viewer and the work. The dress maker…. invites the viewer to contribute and emphasises working processes that break down the separation between life and art. The purpose is to create direct relationships with participation offering an inclusive approach that remains open to interpretation by many. Relations are generated then tested as the work evolves contributing to the potential for transitory moments between the past and future to be gathered together in the present. The dressmaker works patterning associations, the viewer is invited to contribute to this work by opening the drawer, rolling small squares of paper and writing words that relate to participation and connections. These are seen as links by being placed back in the drawer to accumulate and for others to reflect on.
