five year journey.

Australian Curator, Helen Sanderson, adds her
postscript ...
In Your Dreams is about to close, after
being shown in two venues in Canada, two venues in Germany and eight venues in
Australia over a period of five years. The exhibition has been transformed
each time it has been shown, with each installation in different size and
shaped rooms, and the flair of each of the gallery installation teams making
the show look and feel quite different. I have decided to call it quits now,
despite there being requests from further galleries to show this remarkable
exhibition. It is time for me to move on with other projects, and to return
the artworks to the artists.
I have many people to thank for helping with the
In Your Dreams exhibition. The first steps in organising this touring
International exhibition started in early 2004…and it is now June 2010. My
biggest worry was whether the artists would build works strong enough to tour
for a year or more. I had no idea it would tour for so long. Over this time
the works have withstood the rigours of touring to perfection! My heartfelt
thanks go to every artist for fulfilling this part of the brief so well.
Thank you to Karen for all her efforts in Canada…I
have learned a lot from you during this time. Thank you to Lene Rose for her
efforts in Germany, and for looking after me and showing me around when I came
to Germany to set up In Your Dreams in 2005. Thanks to Agatha who was
living in Germany at that time, for helping so much with the initial
establishment of this project. Her support was a vital key for me. Also thank
you to Vera and Sylvia in Munich for their efforts when In Your Dreams
showed at Amerika Haus. I will always treasure the memories of going to the
Lang Nacht der Museen in Munich in 2007. To see how the German people embrace
the arts with such enthusiasm was marvellous. It was a fabulous experience. I
loved meeting the German artists, and Canadians Karen and Shirley who also
attended. Thank you to Hildegard and her husband for often translating my
words into German for the German artists. The tour in Australia has been well
received. Thank you to all the Regional Gallery directors and staff for
embracing our exhibition. These galleries appreciated the International
artist’s content, and the diversity of work within the show. The exhibition
has been seen by a huge number of school children, college students and
university undergraduates, as well as the general public. My eternal thanks go
to Judy Smith for establishing and maintaining the In Your Dreams
website for us since 2005. It has been of great use to the galleries,
educational bodies, and in some cases journalists. A special thank you goes
to Barbara and Penny, for their wonderful understanding when we had problems
with their works while on tour in Australia. It has been a great
experience for me personally, and I thank you all so much for your support and
participation. Thank you to my daughter Jacelyn for her help on many
occasions. None of it would have happened without the support and enthusiasm
of my husband Don.

The In Your Dreams exhibition is almost at
a close at Armidale in New South Wales. The NERAM
(New England Regional Art Museum) has hosted this
exhibition since it opened on the 19th March 2010.
They sent me some photos immediately, which I managed
to lose, so belatedly and with apologies, here are
some photos of the exhibition, in situ, at NERAM.

Phillipa Charley-Briggs who is the Curator at the Gallery wrote to tell me about the exhibition today and she said:
"The
exhibition has been a great success and it has been really pleasing over the last 6 weeks that so many school groups and TAFE groups have come
to the gallery. We have also had a few meetings of
the Chamber of Commerce in the last month so quite a
few people have come into the gallery who may not have been before -it's always good to broaden the audience. Last Friday we
had our annual fundraising dinner for the NERAM
Foundation - so another part of the community was
able to see the exhibition."
The final day for this exhibition will be the 27th June. The
In Your Dreams exhibition will then be packed up and crated back to me, Helen Sanderson, and I will then be sending each of the works back to the artists. It will be the
end of a long journey for the works ... and a long journey for me. A journey with many successes to its credit.
